PRIVACY POLICY

It’s in our mission to treat customers like peers. The last thing we want to do is violate your right to privacy and/or annoy the living daylight out of you. This page describes—in transparent and understandable terms—how we make sure those two things never happen.

You are in control

We use a service called OneTrust to give you complete control over your privacy—what data we do and don’t collect and retain—at peakdesign.com.

When you first visit peakdesign.com, you’ll see a banner (see image below) that lets you opt-in or opt-out of having different types of information collected:

By clicking “Cookies Settings” you can be specific about what types of information you do and don’t want us to track. You can update your preferences at any time by clicking the button below:

Beyond that, here is some information on the types of information we may collect and retain when you visit our shop at our website:

Order Fulfillment Data

When you purchase products through our website, we collect your name and shipping address, as well as phone number and email address. All of these pieces of information are necessary to ship your order. We do not share any of your contact information with anybody other than our third party order fulfillment vendors. We retain your shipping details and order history to enable us to provide you with future customer services like returns and warranty replacements. If you create a peakdesign.com account we store your account password, which you can reset or change at any time. Your password is only accessible by you and never by Peak Design employees or third parties.

Credit Card Processing

Our main credit card processor is managed through ShopPay which is part of Shopify. Additionally, we utilize accelerated payments like ApplePay, GooglePay and Paypal via ShopPay. We do not retain your credit card information in our system. Your data is only used once to capture the funds necessary to fulfill your order.

General Website Usage

Our website serves a global audience with varying needs. Your IP address tells us where in the world you are located. When you come to peakdesign.com, we track your IP address to personalize your shopping experience. This includes showing you prices in your local currency, showing you shipping and tax information specific to your country, and helping you find physical retail stores near you with our Store Locator. This tracking is critical to the functionality of our website and is considered strictly necessary.

Website Analytics

We use Google Analytics to track the volume and type of traffic that comes to our website. When you access this website Google may collect information such as cookies, IP address, search keywords, session length, browser type, page views and number of visits. None of this information is personally identifiable and is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. Google Analytics does not track visitors across multiple sites.

In addition to declining cookies, you can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on in your browser, which prevents Google Analytics from collecting information about your visits to any website.

Digital Advertising & Retargeting

We use a few different digital marketing services to create and display online ads for our products. As you browse peakdesign.com, these services use cookies to remember what products you viewed and clicked on. Our advertising partners then enable us to present you with advertising based on your previous interaction with peakdesign.com. You might see Peak Design ads on other websites, in Google search results, on Facebook and Instagram, or while watching videos on Youtube, TikTok or other platforms. This practice is called “retargeting.”

You can opt out of digital advertising and retargeting cookies by turning off “Targeting Cookies” in the Cookies Settings.

Cart Abandonment & Post-Purchase Emails

We use a service called Klaviyo to send you emails after you abandon or complete a purchase on peakdesign.com. When you check out, Klaviyo collects your email address and what was in your cart. They do not collect any of your payment information. The information collected is used to send an automated email if you do not complete the checkout process. You may also receive emails after completing a purchase, reminding you to do things like register your product or leave a review.

Customer Support

We use a third party service called Gladly to host and manage our Support Center and Contact Us form. When you fill out the Contact Us form, Gladly retains the history of your conversations with us. This enables our support staff to always provide you with the best possible service. Your customer service history is only accessible by the Peak Design Customer Service team.

Peak Design Newsletter (Klaviyo)

We use a third party service called Klaviyo to send out periodic email newsletters about new products, sales, and other news. We only send our newsletter to customers who have specifically opted in to receiving it. That opt-in may happen through the course of checking out on peakdesign.com, or signing up for a Peak Design promotion, completing a customer survey, or a number of other less common ways.

We will never share or sell your email to anybody without your consent. We will never add you to our email list without your consent. We never buy lists of email addresses from 3rd parties. And, you can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time.

SMS/Text Support & Offers

We use a third party service called Klaviyo to provide support and occasionally send news and offers to customers via text message. We only send text support and offers to customers who have specifically opten in to receiving it. That opt-in typically happens through the course of checking out on peakdesign.com—there is a checkbox underneath the field where you enter your phone number. If you check the opt-in box, but do not complete checkout, you may receive a text message from us asking if we can assist with your incomplete purchase.

We also have a “live text” service that sometimes runs on peakdesign.com. When we’re running this service, we’ll display a phone number on our website that customers can text for support. If you text that number, you’ll first be asked to opt-in to receiving text messages from us.

On rare occasions, we may send out a text message offer or update to some or all customers who have opted in to receive text messages.

You can unsubscribe from receiving text messages at any time, simply by replying “STOP” to one of our text messages. When you do, you’ll receive one more text confirming that you have unsubscribed.

We also use cookies to help keep track of items you put into your shopping cart including when you have abandoned your cart and this information is used to determine when to send cart reminder messages via SMS.

Website A/B Testing (Convert & Hotjar)

We’re always trying to make our website a better experience for customers. To do this, we use third party tools called Convert and Hotjar to run A/B tests. During an A/B test, we split our website visitors into 2 groups and show each group a different page design. We use these tools to determine which group of customers was best able to accomplish their goals on our site. The winning page design is then implemented for 100% of website visitors. Our A/B testing and analytical tools do not collect or retain personally identifiable information. Instead, they collect and retain pages you visit on our website, things you click on, mouse movements, and how far down you scroll.

You can opt out of Convert & Hotjar cookies by turning off “Performance Cookies” in your Cookies Settings. When you do this, you will not longer be taking part in website A/B testing.
